Hear what our students have to say about the Master of Psychology (Clinical Neuropsychology):
Jane Bairnsfather, Master of Psychology (Clinical Neuropsychology) and PhD, (2017)
What do you like most about your course?
"The Master of Psychology (Clinical Neuropsychology) is taught by lecturers who are leaders in both clinical and research work, providing a diverse range of perspectives and experiences. Our clinical placements include opportunities to work alongside neuropsychologists in areas such as paediatrics, neuropsychiatry, geriatrics, and rehabilitation. I have learned practical skills in diagnosing and managing a range of neuropsychological and psychological disorders, as well as a wealth of knowledge about functional and structural neuroanatomy. More broadly, I have learned the clinical skills necessary for written and verbal communication with patients, their families, and both medical and allied health professionals."
Why did you choose to study at the University of Melbourne?
"The University of Melbourne led the development of neuropsychology as a discipline within Australia, and has an excellent reputation both in Australia and overseas. I chose to study at Melbourne because of both the range of placements offered as a clinical student, and the excellent research opportunities available to me as a PhD candidate."
What inspires you?
"My peer group inspires me! I am fortunate to be studying with a wonderful group of highly motivated, supportive, and generous people. Working together with them through this demanding course has encouraged me to push myself to my limits."
